Matt Rose's KCC Pre-Season Welcome 2014-2015
Date of Event : Fri Aug 8, 2014 12:21PM

Dear Player / Member / Supporter,

Welcome back for the 2014/15 season. Hope you have all had a great break and are looking forward to another year of cricket. The 2013/14 season was undoubtedly a successful one, with the A grade, u16 and t20 flags being won by the KCC. It was also a season of near misses with the A grade one day side missing out by a run and the B and C grades narrowly missing finals. I am thrilled to have been reappointed by the committee and look forward to the challenges that the 14/15 season presents.

Attached is the pre season schedule for the 2014-15 season. It will run pretty similarly to last year’s preseason, beginning with Sunday mornings, before phasing in Thursday nights and finally Tuesday nights. These sessions will be quite comprehensive and will contain nets, fielding work and cricket specific fitness work. It is expected that players attend as many of these sessions as possible to ensure that we are as well prepared as we can be for round 1. Please ensure that you are punctual to maximise the amount of training we can get in.

The Saturday morning batting master classes will be in operation again for two Saturdays in September. These are completely optional, and will run irrespective of numbers. They are a great chance to hit some extra balls and get some technical coaching which will assist your preparation for round one.

It is worth noting that the A and B grades begin a week earlier this season, which makes our preseason even more important. In all grades winning games early is important in setting up a successful season. I would like to have a practice match at some stage (it is not on the calendar) but this will depend on ground availability and a suitable opposition. If not then an intra club or centre wicket will form part of our preparation.

Finally I would also encourage anyone not currently playing, looking to return or knowing of anybody keen to play to get in contact with me. I can speak from firsthand experience that new players are certainly made to feel welcome, and that we can provide a great place for players of all standards to play cricket.

Look forward to working hard with you all as we work towards another successful year for the Kilmore Blues.

Regards,

Matt Rose
